A Heartfelt Journey – My First Visit to Kalyan After Marriage

A Heartfelt Journey – My First Visit to Kalyan After Marriage

Introduction

After marriage, visiting your parental home for the first time brings a mix of emotions—excitement, nostalgia, and a deep longing for the past. In September 2024, I had the opportunity to visit Kalyan, Mumbai, for one week, a trip that was special for many reasons. It was not just about going home, but also about celebrating my mother’s and brother’s birthdays and reconnecting with family.

Returning Home – A Wave of Emotions

I arrived in Kalyan on September 22nd, and as soon as I stepped into my home, a wave of emotions hit me. It felt different—there was a void without my mother, and I missed her deeply. However, my father and brother, Avinash (Avi), welcomed me with so much love that I quickly felt at home again.

A Warm Welcome & Sweet Celebrations

  • One of my uncles surprised us by bringing a cake, and we celebrated at my dad’s office.
  • It felt good to be home, to sit in my old room, and to be around familiar places and people again.
  • One of the first things I did? Ate my first Vada Pav after so long—it was pure nostalgia!

Revisiting Responsibilities – Cleaning & Cooking

Living away had made me realize how much my mom handled everything at home. My dad and brother tried their best, but I could see they struggled with maintaining the house. So, I took charge!

  • I cleaned the house, making sure everything was fresh and neat.
  • I cooked their favorite meals, bringing back the flavors of home. Seeing their happy faces after a home-cooked meal was priceless.

Visiting Grandparents in Bhandup

A trip to Mumbai isn’t complete without visiting my grandparents in Bhandup. Spending time with them, listening to their stories, and reliving childhood memories made my visit even more special.

Birthday Celebrations – A Time of Love & Remembrance

Avinash’s Birthday – September 25

The middle of my trip was marked by my brother’s birthday. We kept it simple yet heartfelt—

  • Brought him a cake and made sure he felt special.
  • Wished him all the success and happiness in life.

Mom’s Birthday – September 26

This day was emotional for me. It was my first time celebrating her birthday without her presence. I missed her terribly, but I also knew she would have wanted us to smile and celebrate.

A Quick Visit to Nagpur

On the same evening (September 26), I made a spontaneous visit to Nagpur, to my sister-in-law’s place. Her son, Nityam, had been eagerly waiting for me and even called to invite me.

A Fun Day with Nityam

  • I reached Nagpur at 5 AM, where Jiju picked me up from the station.
  • As soon as I arrived, Nityam was waiting excitedly!
  • I brought him a game, and we played the whole day, making the most of our time together.
  • Spent quality time with Jiji & Jiju, enjoying every moment of love and laughter.

By the same evening, I was back in Kalyan, carrying with me the warmth and joy of the quick visit.

Final Days in Kalyan – Cherishing Every Moment

The remaining days of my trip were all about spending time with my father and Avi.

  • We shared stories, talked about life, and cherished our time together.
  • On September 30, I bid goodbye to Kalyan and returned to Prayagraj, carrying memories that would stay with me forever.

Conclusion – A Journey of Love & Nostalgia

This one-week visit was an emotional rollercoaster—
A heartfelt welcome from my family
The warmth of home & nostalgia
Celebrating birthdays with love
A fun-filled visit to Nagpur
Spending quality time with dad & Avi

Though leaving was tough, I knew that home is always there, waiting for me with open arms. Until next time, Kalyan! πŸ’–
