A Joyful Celebration – My Visit to Delhi for My Nephew’s Chhathi Ceremony

Introduction

Some moments in life are truly special, and celebrating the arrival of a newborn in the family is one of them. After attending my second sister-in-law’s baby shower, I had the joy of visiting Delhi once again, this time for the Chhathi ceremony of her baby boy. Though traditionally held on the sixth day after birth, our family decided to celebrate it a month later, making it an even grander affair.

Reuniting with Family & Meeting the Little One

Returning to Delhi felt wonderful, but what made this trip extra special was finally meeting our family’s newest little member! Holding the tiny baby boy in my arms for the first time was an indescribable feeling—his soft fingers, sleepy eyes, and innocent expressions melted my heart instantly.

The Chhathi Ceremony – A Celebration of New Beginnings

Chhathi is a traditional Hindu ritual performed to bless the newborn with health, happiness, and a prosperous future. Since we celebrated it a month later, it gave us more time to prepare for a beautiful and well-organized gathering.

Traditional Puja & Rituals

The ceremony began with a puja performed by the elders, where prayers were offered for the baby’s well-being. The atmosphere was filled with the scent of incense and fresh flowers, creating a divine and peaceful setting. The baby was dressed in adorable new clothes, looking like a little prince as he received blessings from everyone.

Feast & Family Fun

After the rituals, the real celebration began! A delicious feast was prepared with traditional sweets, puris, sabzi, and kheer—a must-have for such occasions. The house was filled with laughter, joy, and the chatter of relatives who had come together to celebrate this beautiful moment.

A Night of Music & Masti

No family gathering is complete without some fun! The night ended with singing, dancing, and endless gossips, making it feel like a mini-wedding. Seeing the baby surrounded by so much love and happiness made the occasion truly memorable.

A Trip to Remember

This second visit to Delhi was even more special than the first because it marked the beginning of a new journey for our family. Watching my sister-in-law step into motherhood and being a part of my nephew’s first big celebration filled my heart with joy.

As I left Delhi, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the beautiful memories made and looked forward to seeing my little nephew grow!
